Making Workplaces Work Better

Keyword:  ANGER

Anger is sometimes called the "misunderstood emotion" .... the topic represents a hotbed of confusion about its purpose and appropriate use in the workplace. Of one thing is certain:   anger is inevitable and sometimes even necessary; what isn't necessary is the destructive downside of anger -- fear, mistrust, abuse -- when expressed irresponsibly or not expressed at all.

Do you have healthy anger management skills?  Can you assert your point of view when being confronted by an angry person? Are you sometimes that angry person?   Do you know when you are being edgy, irritable, or overly assertive?  Can you take a deep breath when you feel like "taking someone's head off" to allow things to chill out?  Try our self-evaluation ....

And what about voicemail, e-mail, and other means of "impersonal" communication?  How do you best handle anger when the person is not sitting in front of you?
